While the views of the fort and Amer's many temples are on full display from the resort itself, stepping out is equally worthwhile. The most obvious engagement of the lot is a visit to the Fort itself. Built by the Kachwaha Rajputs in the 11th century, Amer Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Perched on a hill, the fort can be reached on foot, on an elephant or by a battery-operated vehicle. Once at the fort, there is a fair bit of walking across its prominent spots with the highlight being the evening Sound & Light show.
